Messages from August 26th

Jesus said that Christians are to be lights in the world, and that their light should point to the Father, so that He would be glorified. Well, that sounds good but how do we let our light shine? In a message entitled, Works that Can be Seen, visiting speaker Scott Polhamus (Hope Baptist Church in Markham) shared some thoughts with us from the Beatitudes.

Each month, we prayerfully choose a verse to try and memorize as a church – we call it our Victory Verse. We recite it together in all our church services, and usually preach a message from it. With summer in mind, and the “slump” that often comes along with it, August’s verse was Luke 21:34, And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. Since tonight was the last Sunday of August, and we hadn’t preached on our verse yet, tonight was the night! In a message entitled, Take Heed to Yourselves, Pastor Wyatt shared the need to be vigilant in our lives so we are not caught off guard when Jesus returns.
