True friends are an invaluable resource as we journey through life. They are there through thick and thin, offering advice, support and a helping hand when needed. They speak truthfully even when it is hard, encouraging us to do right. The Bible is full of examples of friendship, but the greatest example is Jesus Christ Himself. In John 15:13 He said, Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. A short while later, He did just that – He laid down His life for us, thus demonstrating the love and friendship He had defined. He did that for you, and for me – what a Friend!
This Sunday, November 8th, on our Friend Day, we are honoured to have Dr. LeRoy Pennell, founder and recently retired pastor of Heritage Baptist Church in Barrie, ON, preaching for us. Not only has he been a faithful minister of God’s Word, but Dr. Pennell has been a personal friend to our Pastor, and a friend to our church since it began in 2002.
